Our brain tick turns out to be a regular, run-of-the-mill green tick. So don’t be discouraged from visiting us, Helen. I got a present from my son, and I got a tick. I wish the two were unrelated. What is this lump on my scalp? During the pre-Spring bird house cleanout, I find that one bird’s nest is decidedly not like another. Some current events, in the form of poetry with pictures. Springtime is magic in the hills of Southwest Virginia! If you blink your eyes you’ll miss lots of amazing things. If you don’t blink your eyes, and spend all day walking and spinning in circles, you’ll probably still miss lots of amazing things. But if you’re even a little observant, you’ll see things that will make you glad to be alive and a part of the community of life. I am one week into my three week poison ivy cure. My butt itches. But I’m willing to put up with an itchy backside to prevent a hypothetical future itchy arm. This may not be smart, but whatever. But hey — we’ve got beautiful birds at the feeders, and a nifty Parasite Picture of the Day. We got our rabbits. Nine of them. Now what? Oh, and our skunk woke up. Turns out I have an alter-ego — Bongo Snackley. He seems sincere and good-hearted, but I’m not sure I like him. Our birds seem to be coming down with avian pox and salmonellosis. Information we could have used a couple of weeks ago. |
