Introducing Andy

I’m not a cat person. I never had a cat growing up. I like some cats. I’m allergic to some cats, some of whom I like. I sometimes have to “take care of ” feral cats when they stalk our chickens (we just lost a chicken to a predator, but it probably wasn’t a cat).

A neighbor’s barn cats came out to play with the boys when we were collecting winter pears and chestnuts at her house. The boys played back. Our friend mentioned that she needed to give away one of the kittens. So we are now the proud companions of a three-month old kitten. Andy. I like him.

Here's to Andy!

I love the kitty–the hair left everywhere can be a pain, but I’d love to have one again. Ken says I can have one when we live in the country again. Guess that’s like saying “when hell freezes over?” And that is a great name.

We never thought we’d have a cat, but we like it. So far we haven’t had any hair problems — at least none that compare with Gibson’s shedding. Maybe it’s the size difference between a two or three pound cat and a 110 pound dog.

As to the name — he’s named after Andy Griffith. Tretan chose it.
